WATCH IN 720p HD for BEST QUALITY

Unfortunately the video was uploaded in bad quality however the concept is still there. I made the music on GarageBand and added the foley later on. I changed the production animation to fit in more with our thriller title sequence. I also had to change the lighting so the change from day to night isn't so dramatic. Towards the end of the title sequence, we used a different camera, which created low quality footage. Although I hope that our main idea is put across.

Filming for our Thriller

For our thriller title sequence, we have filmed the first stage of filming at Natasha's house and we will do the other stage of filming at school. We casted Liam to play the killer in which he played this part very well, plus he helped with the shooting as we were missing a person. Stephen played the computer hacker and filmed as well.

In order to fit with when everybody can attend our final shooting, we will be shooting our thriller after the Christmas holiday, preferably at the beginning of January, that way we can start shooting as soon as possible.

You can see some words being highlighted on paper, with a black pen. The black represents death and that something bad is about to happen. The objects shown such as blades and needles also help create a dark mood. The props such as the book and the images etc, add to suspicion of the viewer and make them wonder what the person is doing.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The title sequence of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo shows us the use of many different generic conventions such as the names of the cast and crew with a dark mysterious background which relates to the title of the film. Only 2 characters are introduced in the title sequence which tells the audience that they are the main characters when we see their faces form from a strange liquid that the whole title sequence is made up of. The title of the film is then shown in bold dark writing relating to the title again and is a chinese/japanese font, which also relates to the title of the film as dragons are known for representing china and japan.

Fight Club

The title sequence begins with a plain black image as the music begins, making it mysterious. The music is fast pace, exciting and effective. The first title appears as the music suddenly goes loud, emphasising the “thriller” genre. The writing is in large, white block capitals. Making a strong image as the light letters contrast with the dark background. This contrast could be linked with the schizophrenic character the film is based around. The title then becomes blurry and fades out, as if it was hiding from something.

Vertigo

The title sequence of Vertigo however does none of this. We first see a a women we don't know who she is or where we are. This woman isn't Kim Novak and in fact we never see her again This type of filmmaking is extremely, it disoriegntates the audience. We fall into her eye and then into a series of spirals. The representational turns into graphics. There is no direction or stability here; The colors don't match. Only the motif of the spiral is constant.

These are the test shots with our possible actors portraying their characters. Harry, who plays the Killer, is photographed from a low angle in order to make him seem more menacing and suitable for his character. He is photographed in a smaller space in which his body takes up most of the shot, which makes him seem bigger, powerful and important.

STEPHEN - 07904 006046

Stephen, who portrays the Computer Hacker, is photographed from a high angle in order to make him seem less menacing and more vulnerable. He is also alone on the bridge which gives a feeling of isolation and sets the scene for our thriller opening.

Animatic

We used screen shots from our practice Thriller Opening then added titles and a thriller soundtrack in order to show what we plan to do in our final Thriller Opening. We added extra images that we would like to include in our final Thriller Opening but were not able to do in our practice Thriller Opening due to lack of time.

Storyboard

Our storyboard comes from the practice Thriller Opening that we made for our thriller 'The Code'. It shows the progress of our opening and also includes images that we would like to include in our final Thriller Opening such as a close-up of Stephen entering the lift and a close-up of Stephen's face to show his characters emotions because this will help create suspense and a sense of impending doom.

Thriller Opening Practice 2

The first name for our thriller was 'Red Enigma', however we decided to change that to 'The Code' in order to fit in with the theme of our thriller which begins with a computer hacker killed for information.
